How to reset the Kenwood TS-990S

The TS-990S comes equipped with dual receivers for simultaneous reception on different bands, it also features narrow-band roofing filters on the main receiver in a full down-conversion configuration. The TS-990S achieves the highest basic reception performance of any radio in the TS series, through the careful selection of circuits, and components, and accelerating analysis using a triple DSP configuration.

You may wish to perform a factory reset to your Kenwood TS 990 ham radio to clear out any settings you have modified. You can reset all configuration data in the transceiver to their defaults following these steps.

Perform the following steps in order-

Total Time: 1 minute

  1. Press [RESET] (F) from the Menu screen to open the
    RESET screen

  2. Press ^ (F2) or v MULTI/CH control to select the full reset.
    Press [MENU TOP] (F) to exit the Reset Configuration
    Data screen and display the Menu screen

  3. Press [MENU TOP] (F) to exit the Reset Configuration
    Data screen and display the Menu screen

  4. Press [SELECT] F4

    A message prompting the start of the Full Reset appears.
    Pressing [CANCEL] (F4) to clear the message prompting
    you to start Full Reset, without starting the Full Reset.

  5. Press [SELECT] (F4)

    The transceiver is reset and automatically restarts.
